House Fire

On January 11, 2021, at 7:44 PM the Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a smoke investigation in the community of Highland West.   The original dispatch gave a general area of the investigation.   Units arrived in the area and proceeded to check the source of the smoke.
 

After checking a couple of streets, the engine found a house on fire in the unit block of Cavendish Court at 8:02 PM.   Heavy smoke was pouring out of the structure.  Firefighters began their attacked when the structure erupted in flames.   The original dispatch was upgraded to a working structure fire and assistance was provided by Belvedere, Hockessin, Elsmere, Cranston Heights, Five Points and Christiana Fire Companies along with the New Castle County Paramedics.
 

Approximately 40 firefighters battled the blaze.   The house was heavily damaged by fire and smoke and is uninhabitable.  The fire was declared under control 9:07 PM.   No firefighters were injured, and units remained on the scene until 11:00 PM.  No one was home at the time of the fire and the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
