November 26, 2021 – Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a structure fire at 8:00 PM in the 400 Binstead Avenue in the Kiamensi Gardens community. As units arrived on the scene, they found fire showing from the bravo side of the split-level home. Firefighters advanced hose lines into the structure and encountered fire on the first floor and attic area. There was an electrical fire on the bravo side of the structure and an emergency alert was announced to warn firefighters. Delmarva Power was connected for a priority response.
Firefighters from Cranston Heights, Belvedere, Elsmere, Hockessin, Five Points and Minquas Fire Companies responded to assist along with the New Castle County paramedics. Approximately 30 firefighters battled the fire in freezing temperatures and no injuries were reported.
The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced family. The Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
