House Fire - The Pines

Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a house fire in the Pines in Pike Creek Valley at approximately 11:47 PM on the May 12, 2012. The fire was reported on White Pine Court with the back of the home on fire. As fire apparatus from Mill Creek Fire Company arrived on the scene they found the rear of the home, which backs up to Pines Blvd, involved with fire. The call was elevated to a working alarm with approximately 40 firefighters battling the blaze. The fire caused heavy damaged to the rear of the home and roof/attic area. The two residents of the home were able to safely evacuate. Considering the amount of fire when firefighters arrived they were able to contain the blaze to the rear portion of the home and kept the blaze from destroying the rest of the home. The fire was placed under control in an hour. No firefighters were injured and the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office. Mill Creek Fire Company was assisted by Hockessin, Aetna, Cranston Heights and Minquas Fire Companies. Cover up companies from the surrounding area stood by at Mill Creek’s station until all units returned. New Castle County police and paramedics were also on the scene providing assistance.
