Wilmington - Francis James Cahoon, 72, passed away at home on January 16, 2019. Francis was a 51 year member of Mill Creek Fire Co. He served as Vice President, Director, Parade Committee chairman and headed the Fire Safety House Program and was also on the Banquet Committee.
Francis served as Director and Vice President of the Delaware Valley Fire Chiefs Association. He had been a delegate to the Delaware Volunteer Firemen's Association as well as the New Castle County Firemen's Association where he served on several committees and received many awards over the years. He was a member of the Cumberland Valley Firemen's Association and he was also involved for many years as a coach with Midway Little League.
He is survived by his wife Dolores Cahoon; children, Frank Miller, Dawni Hollingsworth and Donald Kasner, Jr. (Carla); grandchildren, Jordon Rash, Ian Rash, Rachel Wessells, Aaron Kasner, Marcus Hagins, Nyla Kasner, Victoria Lopez (Val), and great grandchildren, Lilly Rash, Jax and Gracie, his brother-in -law Charles Isenberg and sister-in-law Deborah Isenberg (Frank); He is also survived by his nephew Oliver Cahoon (Kayla) and nieces, Ada Rose (Keith) and Julie Riviello (Frank). Francis was preceded in death by daughter Vicki Miller Lennon, his parents, Oliver and Helen Cahoon and his brother and sister in-law Oliver and Alma Cahoon.
A viewing will be held on Monday January 21 from 6-8 pm at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington 19808. A service will be at 11am on Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
