Charles J. McVeigh, Jr. Charles (Chuck) McVeigh, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 18, 2017, at the age of 55. He was a lifelong resident of the greater Wilmington area. Charles was a 1980 graduate of Delcastle High School and worked in the Electrical Trade briefly. He has also served the New Castle County Community Government since 1989, beginning his career in the 911 Emergency Center then transitioning to the Department of Code Enforcement, where he continued to work until his passing. He has been an active member of Mill Creek Fire Company for over 30 years. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Joanne (Powell), sons Ryan and Ian of Newark, his mother Martha McVeigh, along with his siblings, Cathleen (Jeffrey) Edwards, Colleen (Kevin) Baber, Carolyn (Dennis) Banas, Christopher McVeigh and Jennifer (Daniel) Graper, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Charles "Jerry" McVeigh, Sr. A viewing will be held on Monday September 25 from 10am-1pm followed by a service at 1pm at the McCrery and Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington 19808. Burial will be held privately. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mill Creek Fire Company, 3808 Kirkwood Highway Wilmington, DE 19808.
