William G. Stewart, Sr., of Pike Creek Valley, died March 29, 2014. He was born in Wilmington, DE., and the son of the late William B. and Lillian (White) Stewart. Bill graduated from the old Wilmington HS in 1944. Upon graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during World War II in the Pacific Arena, primarily in the Philippines. Bill started working for ICI Americas in 1950 and retired after 36 years of service in 1986. After moving to Marshallton in 1955, Bill joined the Mill Creek Fire Company. He was a proud Life Member and served on the Board of Directors. Over the years he enjoyed the companionship of other members and never turned down the opportunity to get into a card game. In 1985 Bill married Betty Tucker and shortly thereafter they moved to Lady Lake, FL. Following Betty's death in March 2008, Bill returned to live in Delaware.
