March 4, 2023 – Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched to a mobile home fire with a possible subject trapped at 10:31 AM. The home was located in the 900 block of Tenth Avenue in the Murray Manor Trailer Park just off of Old Capitol Trail.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke billowing from the 12’ x 45’ mobile home. As firefighters started to make their initial entry into the trailer to search for the victim the trailer became heavily involved in fire with flames shooting out the doors and windows. An evacuation was called to account for all firefighters and the fire attack was coordinated from the exterior of the trailer. Eventually firefighters were able to enter the interior of the trailer to search for any victims. The interior was heavily damaged by fire and there were no victims in the trailer.
The fire was placed under control at 11:11 AM and there were no firefighter injures. Firefighters from Belvedere, Christiana, Cranston Heights, Elsmere, Hockessin, Minquas Fire Companies assisted Mill Creek. Emergency medical personnel from the New Castle County Paramedics and Mill Creek Fire Company were on the scene. The State of Delaware Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire. The mobile home was destroyed.
March 5, 2023 - Mill Creek Fire Company was dispatched at 6:10 AM to a shed on fire at the same location of the fully involved trailer fire from the night before. The shed was a good distrance from the trailer fire and did not suffer any damage from the original fire. Firefighers responding found the shed fully involved in fire. The flames from the shed fire caused the metal siding to melt on three other mobile homes.
Firefighters from Christiana, Cranston Heights, Elsmere, Five Points, Hockessin and Minquas Fire Companies assisted Mill Creek Fire Company. Units cleared the scene by 7:30 AM. The Delaware State Fire MArshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
